Ramot Hashavim

A suburban community in the Sharon region, southwest of Kfar Saba. Ramot Hashavim was the first agricultural community to be founded in Israel by immigrants from Germany, who wanted to set up a moshav of small farms close to the city. Established in 1933, its name is symbolic, referring to the community's founders as those who returned to Zion. In 1951, the moshav received the status of Municipal Council and, during the 1990's, attracted upper-middle class city-dwellers and almost completely lost its agricultural character. In 2003, it became a part of the Southern Sharon Regional Council. Ramot Hashavim is one of the ten leading communities in Israel from a social and economic point of view. Most of the moshav is built on private land as a result of its joining the Southern Sharon Regional Council and its transformation into an urban community. The parcels are not homogeneous in nature, and range between 1 and 10 dunams.
