Batzra

Moshav (Agricultural Union) in the Sharon region, approximately 2 km north of Raanana. It was named after the city of Basra in Iraq, where the moshav founders served in the British Army in World War 2, and where they organized to establish a moshav in Israel following their discharge. The moshav was founded in 1946 with the support of Keren Hayesod (United Israel Appeal). Because of its location near the center of the country, it developed in recent years and was transformed into a prestige community that attracts business people. The moshav has estates, auxiliary farms, and family expansion areas. Estates are 9 dunams and approximately 20 dunams of additional parcels. Auxiliary farms are between 2 - 3 dunams, and family expansion plots between 500 - 800 square meters.
